The area of Sykourio has been inhabited since the Neolithic Age, according to archaeological research. Today, Sykourio is one of the largest villages in the Municipality of Tempi.
Its inhabitants are mainly engaged in the cultivation of almonds, olives, grains and vines, and in September the annual Almond festival is organized.
The stone and half-timbered, two-storeyed houses, most of which are the creations of stone masons from Epirus, are of significant interest.
The Folklore Museum is now housed at the restored watermill of Sykourio.
In the "Barra" artificial reservoir, just outside Sykourio, an annual music festival called "Barra Party" is organized, with the participation of well-known artists and great crowd attendance.
